The weather is going to be great for this weekend! That means there’s a great opportunity to explore all the fun going on in Jackson County this weekend!

Thursday, September 5

Power of the Praise Band – The City of Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will host the Power of the Praise Band Concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 5, at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. Less like me will be the featured act. It is free to attend.


Friday, September 6

Cheer Clinic – Brownstown Central High School Cheerleading will host the Fall Cheer Clinic at 4:30 p.m. September 6, at Brownstown Central High School Auxiliary Gym, 500 North Elm Street, Brownstown. The clinic is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Click here to sign up.Registration closes August 23. It’s $30 per person and will include the clinic, shirt, snack, and entrance into that night’s football game to cheer through the first quarter.

Live music at Harmony Park – Steve DeWeese will play at 6:30 p.m. September 6, at Harmony Park outside The Brooklyn Pizza Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Friday Night Live – Joseph Persinger & Happy Accident Duo will play Friday Night Live at 7 p.m. September 6, at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, 2001 North Ewing Street in Seymour. There also will be food and art during the event. Those who attend are welcome to bring coolers and lawn chairs.

Live music at Rails – Holly Barrett will play at 7 p.m. September 6, at Rails Craft Brew & Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.

Live music at On the Rox – Kolton Norton will play at 7 p.m. September 6, at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.

Live music at the Legion – Old Habits will play at 8 p.m. September 6, at the Seymour American Legion, 402 West Second Street, Seymour.


Saturday, September 7

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon September 7, in the Farmers Market Parking Lot off Walnut Street in Seymour.

Medora Farmers Market – The Medora Farmers Market will operate from 9 a.m. to noon September 7, at the Medora Town Park.

Fly In Benefit – The Southern Indiana Flying Eagles will host a Fly In benefit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 7, at the RC Field within Freeman Field. Enter Freeman Field Industrial Park from U.S. 50 and follow the signs. The event will benefit the Humane Society of Jackson County. The group will be collecting monetary donations, Purina dog, cat, puppy & kitten food, treats, paper towels, bleach, detergent, garage bags, toys, and clay cat litter. Food will be available at the field.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 7. Appointments can be scheduled through the week by calling 812-271-1821.

Seymour Museum Center – The Seymour Museum Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 7, at the center, 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour.

Overdrive Monster Truck – The Brownstown Speedway will host Monster  Truck Overdrive on September 7, at the track, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. Click here for information.

Denim & Diamonds – The Seymour Parks & Recreation Department will host Denim & Diamonds at 5:30 p.m. September 7, at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. The evening will include pizza, drinks, sweet treats, games, ChrAsh Entertainment, and dancing for mothers and sons. Tickets are $25 per mother/son and the event is limited to 50. Live music at Harmony Park – Acoustic Crossroads Trio will play at 6:30 p.m. September 7, at Harmony Park outside The Brooklyn Pizza Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street – Colt Wienhorst will play at 7 p.m. September 7, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at Rails – Tim Consley will play at 7 p.m. September 7, at Rails Craft Brew & Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.

Live music at Chateau de Pique – Sarcastrophy Band will play at 7 p.m. September 7 on the outdoor stage at Chateau de Pique Winery & Brewery, 6361 North County Road 760E, Seymour.

Live music at The Thirsty Sportsman – The Keith Swinney Band will perform at 9 p.m. September 7, at The Thirsty Sportsman, 205 North Armstrong Street, Crothersville.


Sunday, September 8

Fish Fry – Immanuel Lutheran School will host its annual Fish Fry from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. September 8, at the church’s fair stand at the Jackson County Fair Grounds, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The menu will include fish, cole slaw, potato salad, hot dogs, ice cream, desserts, and more. It’s a free will donation that will benefit the school.

Tuesday, September 10

Craft Time – Moxie Coffee Company will host a free craft from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. September 10, at the coffee shop, 218 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. The theme for the month is Fall Fun.

Flower Bouquet Workshop – Voss Funeral Service will host a Flower Workshop at 11 a.m. September 10, at the funeral home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. The event is free and will include a brief presentation about funeral planning, cremation, and Veterans’ burial benefits before the workshop. Click here to register.


Wednesday, September 11

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon September 11, in the Farmers Market Parking Lot off Walnut Street in Seymour.

Bicycle Club – The Jackson County Bicycle Club will meet at 6 p.m. September 11, in the parking lot of Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street, Seymour. Visit the group’s Facebook group for all the details.
