Friday, September 13
Church Fundraiser – Cortland Christian Church will host a craft, bake, and yard sale fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. September 13, at the church, 4023 East State Road 258, Seymour. Holiday decorations, wooden items, wreaths, crochet blankets, breads, cookies, and more will be available. Proceeds go to support the church’s missions.
‘Reap The Harvest’ – The Country Neighbors’ Reap the Harvest Home Tour is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. September 13, at various home-based businesses in Jackson and Lawrence counites. Brochures are available at the Jackson County Visitor Center.
MM Designs Fall Gathering – MM Designs Flowers & Gifts will host its annual Fall Gathering Open House from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. September 13, at the store, 11033 East County Road 200S, Crothersville. There will be a free gift to every customer and a giveaway of a $100 gift basket. The store is celebrating 30 years in business.
Hispanic Heritage Month – The City of Seymour Parks & Recreation Department will host the Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 13, at Shields Park in Seymour. The event will include music, dancing, food trucks, bouncy houses, piñatas, entertainment, and more. The event is free to attend.
Live music at San Marco’s – A live Mariachi Band will play at 5:30 p.m. September 13, at San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant, 501 North Ewing Street, Seymour.

Archaeology Day – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host Archaeology Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 14, at the Forest Education Center on the property. Retired Indiana Conservation Officer Phil Nale will share his collection of artifacts and the Indiana Forest Archaeologist AJ Ariens will share a presentation. Much of the program and collection will focus on Indiana’s Native Americans.
Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 14. Appointments can be scheduled through the week by calling 812-271-1821.
Dancing with the Seymour Stars Matinee – The Dancing with the Seymour Stars Matinee is scheduled for 1 p.m., September 14, at Pewter Hall, 850 West Sweet Street, Brownstown. Golf Scramble – Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will host a golf scramble at 1 p.m. September 14, at Hickory Hills Golf Club, 1509 South State Road 135, Brownstown. It’s $60 per person for teams of four, and $100 for a hole sponsorship. Lunch will be provided and there will be contests with prizes. Register or sponsor: 812-595-9162.
Grab & Go Cookout – Emanuel Lutheran Church Dudleytown will host its annual Grab & Go Cookout from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. September 14, at the church, 2174 South County Road 750E, Seymour. The meal will consist of a choice of a pork burger or pork tenderloin sandwich, baked beans, baked potato, coleslaw, and a dessert. It is a freewill donation. Mural Festival – The Town of Crothersville will host a festival from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. September 14, in the alley adjacent to town hall, 111 East Howard Street, Crothersville. The festival will celebrate the new mural and include live music by Mis Array, vendors, food, hayride, prizes, and various fundraisers items by Crothersville schools.
Dancing with the Seymour Stars – Dancing with the Seymour Stars is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., September 14, at Pewter Hall, 850 West Sweet Street, Brownstown. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. All proceeds are split between Seymour Main Street and Boys and Girls Club of Seymour.
Race Night – The Brownstown Speedway race will start around 6 p.m. September 14, at the speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The race will feature ILMS Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics. Click here for tickets and more information.
