Thursday, August 8
SICA Open Hours – The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will host its open hours from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. August 8, at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour.
Bourbon Release – Vick’s Liquor Store will host a Bourbon Barrel Pick Release at 6 p.m. August 8, at the store, 400 East Tipton Street in Seymour. The event will commemorate their 75th year. The store will release a Starlight Distillery Bourbon finished in Maple Syrup Barrels. There also will be giveaways and a tasting. Ribbon cutting with the Jackson County Chamber at 5:45 p.m.
Friday, August 9
Putting for Parks – The fourth annual Seymour Swing Putting for Parks will take place at 8 a.m. August 9, at Shadowood Golf Course, 333 North Sandy Creek Drive, Seymour. It’s $75 per player/$300 a team with proceeds going to purchase and install ADA compliant playground equipment in Seymour Parks. Info: 812-522-6420.
Car Show – The annual Covered Bridge Health Campus Car Show will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. August 9, at the campus, 1675 West Tipton Street, Seymour. The day will include the car show, live music at Matt Williams, the WJAA Radio 96.3 Cool Bus, and Kona Ice. Info: Erin Robinson 812-523-6405.

Live music at Harmony Park – The Why Store will play at 7 p.m. August 9, at Harmony Park outside the Seymour Brewing Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour. Honey White will play at 7 p.m. with The Why Store taking stage at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance (which can be purchased at the Brooklyn Pizza Company), and $20 day of the show. Reserved tables of 6 can be purchased for $100.
Live music at Rails – Forrest Turner will play at 7 p.m. August 9, at Rails Craft Brew & Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.
Live music at On the Rox – These Fine Gentlemen will play at 8 p.m. August 9, at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.
Saturday, August 10
Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon August 10, in the Farmers Market Parking Lot off Walnut Street in Seymour.
Smokey the Bear’s Birthday Bash – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host Smokey the Bear’s Birthday Bash with activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 10, at the property in Vallonia. The activities will be hosted at the campground’s education center. Those who complete the activities will win Smokey Swag. Smokey will be there for pictures and the opportunity to wish him a happy 80th birthday.
Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 10. Appointments can be scheduled through the week by calling 812-271-1821.

Live music at Harmony Park – Happy Accident will play at 7 p.m. August 10, at Harmony Park outside the Seymour Brewing Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Make Your Own Butterfly – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host a Make Your Own Butterfly craft at 11 a.m. August 11, in the Forest Education Center. Participants will make the craft and learn about butterflies that can be found in Indiana.
Combating Invasive Species – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host a discussion on combating invasive species at 1 p.m. August 11, in the Forest Education Center. There will be a game and discussion to answer important questions about invasive species and why it is important to remove them.

Craft Time – Moxie Coffee Company will host a free craft from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. August 13, at the coffee shop, 218 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. The theme for the month is Animals.
