It’s a holiday weekend in Jackson County! So celebrate safely and enjoy these great events! Happy Fourth of July from the Jackson County Visitor Center!

Thursday, July 4

Medora Freedom Celebration – The Medora Freedom Celebration will take place at 4 p.m. July 4, at the Medora Town Park. The event is organized by the Medora Pentecostal Church and is free to enter. The event will showcase local businesses, food trucks, vendors, and include entertainment. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display at dark.

Live music at Harmony Park – Bobcat will play at 7 p.m. July 4, at Harmony Park outside the Brooklyn Pizza Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.


Friday, July 5

SICA Open Hours – The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts will host its open hours from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 5, at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street – Brian Fink will play at 7 p.m. July 5, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at Harmony Park – Steve DeWeese will play at 6:30 p.m. July 5, at Harmony Park outside the Brooklyn Pizza Company, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.


Saturday, July 6

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon July 6, in the Farmers Market Parking Lot off Walnut Street in Seymour.

Celebration of Pollinators – The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge will host the Celebration of Pollinators from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the refuge visitor center, 12985 East U.S. 50, Seymour. There will be pollinator themed children’s activities, a face-painter, honeybee exhibit, programs, and information about gardening and conserving pollinators. A butterfly identification stroll will take place at 11 a.m. around the Visitor Center. Creating Pollinator Habitat – Small to Big, will take place at 12:30 p.m. Free plants also will be given away.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6. Appointments can be scheduled through the week by calling 812-271-1821.

Seymour Museum Center – The Seymour Museum Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6, at the center, 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour.

Fourth of July Celebration – Tiemeyer’s Farm Market will host a Fourth of July Celebration with live music at 2 p.m. July 6, at the market, 3147 South County Road 300W, Vallonia. The Crane Hill Band will play and there will be other entertainment as well as food.

Born Free 40 – The 10th annual Born Free 40 will start around 6 p.m. July 6, at the Brownstown Speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The race will feature Valvoline IronMan Super Late Models plus Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics. Click here for tickets and more information.

Fourth of July Celebration – The City of Seymour Parks & Recreation Department will host its Fourth of July Celebration with the annual fireworks show at 10 p.m. July 6, at the Freeman Field Recreational Complex. It will be synced with 92.7 Nash Icon and WXKU.

Tuesday, July 9

Craft Time – Moxie Coffee Company will host a free craft from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. July 9, at the coffee shop, 218 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. The theme for the month is water.

Open Mic at Brewskies Downtown – Michael Staublin will host Open Mic Night at 6 p.m. July 9, at Brewskies Downtown, 117 East Second Street, Seymour.


Wednesday, July 10
