It’s a music weekend this week in Jackson County. There are five opportunities to see live music this weekend. Also, the Seymour Area Farmers Market opens its regular summer hours this weekend.
Please also don’t forget to remember those who we’ve lost during times of war this weekend during Memorial Day.
Thursday, May 27
Free lunch – Take your lunch break with us at the Jackson County Visitor Center! We are hosting WJAA Radio 96.3’s kickoff to the Free Summer of Fun! It’s from noon to 1 p.m. here at the visitor center, 100 N. Broadway Street, and we have enough to feed the first 100! So stop by, have lunch, and get a chance to win some cool prizes from the WJAA crew!

After hours – It’s a busy day at the visitor center! We also are hosting the Seymour Chamber of Commerce for an After Hours event! It is from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at our office. Stop by and say hey and learn about how we can help your organization.
City Jam –The Jackson Way will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park for the first Seymour Main Street City Jam since 2019. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at 6 p.m. There is no cost for admission!
Friday, May 28
The race is on – Check out the Brownstown Speedway for Night 1 of the Bobby Wilson Memorial race at 6 p.m. Saturday. To get your hands on some tickets, call 603-501-0517 or you can get them at the track.
Saturday, May 29
Farmers Market Opens – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will open its regular summer season with the market from 8 a.m. to noon May 29, in the Walnut Street Parking Lot.

Live Music at Harmony Park – Stephen Wilson Jr. and his band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at Harmony Park. It’s $15 to enter and is for those 21 and older. There will be nine beers on tap at the brewery and you may also order from the Brooklyn Pizza Company menu.
Live Music at Brewskies Downtown – Kill’n Smalls will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. outside at Brewskies Downtown.
Live Music at Jackson Live – SHILOH with Kayce Sexton, Lanny McIntosh, David Graves, and more will perform beginning at 7 p.m. For tickets, call 812-521-1282. Adults $15 and those under 12 are free.
Live Music at Poplar Street – Rich Hampton will perform at 7 p.m. outside at Poplar Street.
Live Music at Luke’s – Matt Trimnell will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. at Luke’s Country Inn.
Sunday, May 30
Memorial Day Service – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 will conduct a Memorial Day service at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown. Doug Pogue, associate minister at Brownstown Christian Church, will be the speaker.
Golf outing – The Hickory Hills Golf Club will host a scramble beginning at 1 p.m. $10 entry plus green fee and cart. Call 812-358-4529.
Monday, May 31
Memorial Day Service – The American Legion Post 89 will conduct a Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. along Soldier’s Row at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.
Brick Plant event – Medora Brick Plant and Historical Sites Inc. will be holding the annual Memorial Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the plant, 8202 E. County Road 425S, Medora. Complimentary hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served. The public is invited, and a special invitation is extended to the families and friends of the former brick plant employees.
