Here’s the final Guide to the Weekend of 2022 for the Jackson County Visitor Center! The visitor center staff thanks you for following along with all the fun events for the family this year and looks forward to a great 2023!
Thursday, December 15
Trivia Night – Patty Bros Entertainment will host a Christmas Trivia Night at 7 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant in Seymour.
Fresh Christmas Arrangement – Anytime Florals will host a Fresh Christmas Arrangement Class at 6:30 p.m. at the store, 310 East Commerce Street, Brownstown. The cost is $45 per person and snacks and drinks will be provided. Call 812-358-5680 to sign up.
Friday, December 16
Festival of Trees – The Jackson County History Center’s Festival of Trees will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the center, 105 North Sugar Street, Brownstown. This year’s theme is Snowmen. It’s free to attend and view the entries, but donations will be accepted.
Wonderland of Lights – The Tiemeyer’s Farm Market Wonderland of Lights will run at 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturday from November 18 through December 17 at the market, 3147 South County Road 300W, Vallonia. Rides begin at 6 p.m. and run each hour. Tickets are $10 per person, or $8 for private groups. (Private groups may schedule on off night with a minimum of 30). Live music at the Eagles – Dave Campbell will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 112 East Second Street, in downtown Seymour.
Saturday, December 17
Jingle All the 5K – Seymour Main Street will host its annual Jingle All the 5K at 9 a.m. in downtown Seymour. Click here to register.
Train Show – The Southern Indiana Model Train Association will host its annual train show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seymour Museum Center, 220 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. Model trains will be set up in multiple rooms and there will be vintage Christmas decorations on display. It also will be a great opportunity to see the progress on the museum. A train set will be given away at 3 p.m. each day. Santa also will be making an appearance!
Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. If you cannot make it during those hours, you may schedule a tour by calling 812-271-1821.
Cookies with Santa & Benefit Auction – Hamacher Hall will host Cookies with Santa and a benefit auction from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamacher Hall, 211 East Howard Street, Crothersville. Information: 812-498-7768.
Bluegrass Jamboree – The Norman Station Conservation Club Bluegrass Jamboree will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the club, 12157 West County Road 450N, Norman. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. The concert is free to attend. Information: 812-525-7194.
Christmas Parade – The city of Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will host a Christmas Parade at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Seymour. The route will leave from Robertson Feed Mill parking lot onto Walnut Street, then continue onto St. Louis Avenue, Chestnut Street to Fifth Street before turning onto Indianapolis Avenue and end at Second Street. Christmas at the Campground – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host Christmas at the Campground from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the campground in Vallonia. Campers and campsites will be decorated for Christmas and people can drive through the campground to vote for their favorite. Those who decorate their campers will get their campsite stay for free. A suggested $5 donation will be taken at the main gate to help fund the program in the future. The evening also will include a Christmas craft, hot chocolate, and Santa Claus. Santa Claus – Santa Claus will hear Christmas wishes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour.
Live music at the Thirsty Sportsman – The Southern Comfort Band will play at 9 p.m. at The Thirsty Sportsman, 205 North Armstrong Street, Crothersville.
Sunday, December 18
Christmas Cantata – Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour will have a Christmas Cantata during its 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services at the church, 605 South Walnut Street, Seymour. The Cantata will feature “The Voices of Christmas” by Joseph Martin. The services will feature choirs, narrators, soloists, and an orchestra.
