Your Guide to the Weekend – 10/8-10/11
This weekend is packed full of fun all throughout Jackson County. This weekend features plenty of opportunities to catch live music, celebrate fall, and get your haunts in!
The Jackson County Visitor Center has you covered for everything you need to know about what there is to do in Jackson County, so take a look.
Please practice social distancing, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer while you enjoy Jackson County!

Thursday, October 8
New exhibit – Visit SICA for a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to open the “Martians, Cows and Mystical Creatures” display by Silas Cheo. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to see some excellent art! Call 812-522-2278 for more information.
Friday, October 9
Fall painting class – Join the Herbal Alternative for a Pumpkin and Gourd Water Color painting class at 6 p.m. led by local artist Kay Fox. Call 812-271-1850 to register and for pricing.
Live music at Vat & Barrel – Chris and Shelly Martin will be performing at 7 p.m. Vat & Barrel in downtown Seymour. Check out their special menu and great drinks!
Haunting – Fear Fair – Indiana’s Scariest Haunted House runs again this weekend, beginning Friday night. It serves up haunts from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturday and 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays. Click here to order tickets.
Movie night – It’s movie night at Tiemeyer’s Farm Market in Vallonia and Friday they will be showing the “Horror Express” on the lawn outside the market. Contact them for the movie title. Bring your own lawn chair and blankets for this free event! Popcorn will be available. They’re showing a different movie every Friday and Saturday night through Halloween. The movie starts at dusk or around 8 p.m.
Saturday, October 10
Free 5k – Join the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for the National Faith and Blue 5K. The run is free and brings law enforcement and faith-based communities together. Registration begins at 7 a.m. to Crothersville High School, and the race starts at 8 a.m.
Farmers market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market is open for its Fall hours. Now is the time to get all your fresh Jackson County produce and other goodies at the Seymour Area Farmers Market. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon.
Jeep ride – Get in your Jeep and support Seymour Police Department’s D.A.R.E. program for a ride. The ride leaves at 9 a.m. from Freeman Field Recreation Area and goes through scenic parts of Jackson County. It should take 2-3 hours to complete. Call 812-522-5131 for information.
Craft show – Stuckwish Farm Market will host an outdoor show that will feature local crafts, food and more from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the market in Vallonia.
Painting workshop – Visit SICA at 11 a.m. where Silas Cheo will lead a painting workshop. Cheo’s “Martians, Cows and Mystical Creatures” will be on display at the center. Call 812-522-2278 for more information.
U-Pick festival – Stuckwisch Pumpkin Patch is hosting a U-Pick Weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where visitors can pick their own pumpkin from the patch! This event also includes a hay ride, corn maze, farm animals and live music from 2 to 4 p.m. The hay ride is $1 per person and the corn maze is $1 per person.
Golf for a cause – Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will host its 2020 Golf Scramble. Team of 4 to 6 players can join in with 50% of proceeds going to the organization. Show at Jackson Live – Rockin’ Terry Lee will be coming to Jackson Live at 7 p.m. This is Jackson County’s newest music venue. Order tickets by calling 812-521-1282.

Fall supper – Join St. Paul Lutheran Church – Wegan for its annual October supper. This year will be drive thru and carryout only. The supper is from 4 to 7 p.m. at 1165 East County Road 400S in Brownstown.
