Your Guide to the Weekend – 10/13-10/16
One of Jackson County’s most cherished traditions returns this weekend! Be sure to head to Fort Vallonia Day this weekend and check out some of the other events going on!
Friday, October 14
Fort Vallonia Days – The annual Fort Vallonia Days Pumpkin Decorating contest will be from 4 to 6 p.m. There also will be music at 7 p.m. by u4ia.
Chili Supper – Lutheran Central School will host its annual Chili Supper from 5 to 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Carry-out and indoor seating will be available. Cost is $6 per ticket and can be purchased from any Lutheran Central student or at the door. Meal includes chili with crackers and cheese, hotdog with bun, cookie, and drink.
Fall Lock In – The Jackson County Public Library will offer a Fall Lock In from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the branch in Crothersville, 120 West Main Street. The night will feature video games, treats, and more. The event is open to those in grades 6 through 12. A signed permission slip is required by October 12.
Stardust Movie Series – The Point will host the Jackson County Chamber’s Stardust Movie Series with a showing of Sing 2 at the church, 311 Myers Street, Seymour. There will be a craft at 6 p.m. with the movie starting at 7 p.m.
Live music at the Fraternal Order of Eagles – Fred + Steve will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 112 East Second Street, Seymour.
Fear Fair – Fear Fair – Indiana’s Scariest Haunted House will be from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the house, 800 A Avenue, Seymour. Click here for tickets.
Saturday, October 15
Fort Vallonia Days – Fort Vallonia Days will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Vallonia. The day will feature food, craft vendors, the trail ride, muzzle loading shoot, baby contest, parade and more. Click here for a full schedule.
Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Car Show – The Seymour Walmart Supercenter will host Nightmare on Tipton Street Car Show from 4 to 8 p.m. at the store. There will be prizes, food trucks, and more with all proceeds going to Riley Children’s Hospital.
Bluegrass Jamboree – The Norman Station Conservation Club’s monthly bluegrass jamboree will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the club, 12157 West County Road 450N, Norman. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. The concert is free to attend. Information: 812-525-7194.
Movie night at Tiemeyer’s Farm Market – Tiemeyer’s Farm Market will show ‘The Great Pumpkin’ and ‘Sleepy Hollow’ at sundown on the lawn of the market, 3147 South 300W, Vallonia. It’s free to attend and those who do should bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Live Music at the Moose – Albino Catfish will play at 8 p.m. at the Seymour Moose Lodge 418, 110 East Sixth Street, Seymour.

Sunday, October 16
Fort Vallonia Days – Fort Vallonia Days will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Vallonia. The day will feature food, craft vendors, community church service, 5K and more. Click here for a full schedule.
Live music at Harmony Park – She Loves Horses, a Tom Petty Tribute Band, will play at 2 p.m. at Harmony Park, 700 Maple Avenue, Seymour.

Wednesday, October 19
Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week’s ride is 10 miles. The group will ride 10 miles every Wednesday through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.
