Meet the Author – The Magic of Books Book Store will host a meet and greet with children’s author David Caudell from noon to 2 p.m. October 5, at the store, 115 West Second Street, Seymour. Caudell is the author of ‘Emma Stein’s First Day’ and ‘Emma Stein’s First Hollyween’.

Seymour Museum Center – The Seymour Museum Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 5, at the center, 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour.

Brownstown Speedway – Championship Night will start around 6 p.m. October 5, at the Brownstown Speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. 50th Anniversary Celebration – Meals on Wheels will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. October 10, at the Knights of Columbus, 118 East Second Street, Seymour. The event is free to attend, but the organization will accept donations. There will be homemade desserts for sale, a silent auction, food by Covered Bridge BBQ and 250 Grill, as well as lie music from The Cherry’s and Christina & Klarc Duo.


Friday, October 11

Ghouls & Goblets – Seymour Main Street will host its annual Ghouls & Goblets tasting event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. October 11, in downtown Seymour. The event includes samples from breweries, wineries, and distilleries as well as spooky stories. Click here for tickets.

CJ Rayburn Memorial & Bowman Family 50 – The CJ Rayburn Memorial & Bowman Family 50 will start around 6 p.m. October 11, at the Brownstown Speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. Houston Fall Festival – The Houston Fall Festival is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 12, at the historic Houston School. The festival will include food, crafts, tractor ride, entertainment, and more.

Medora Goes Pink – Medora Goes Pink is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 12, in Medora. The event includes, food, crafts, health screenings, entertainment, 5K, parade, and more.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 12. Appointments can be scheduled through the week by calling 812-271-1821.

Log Cabin Day – The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society will host Log Cabin Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 12, at Myer’s Cabin within the Mucatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12987 East U.S. 50, Seymour. The day will feature a ham and beans lunch, music, storytelling, pioneer demonstrations, and more.

Stuckwisch Pumpkin Patch U-Pick Weekend – Stuckwisch Pumpkin Patch will host its annual U Pick Weekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 12, at the patch, 1416 State Road 11, Seymour. It’s $5 for a family pass and includes a corn maze, hay rides, farm animals, and more. The 250 Grill & Kovener’s Korner.

Sip & Shop – Chic Boutique will host a Fall Sip N Shop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 12, at the shop, 6283 South County Road 700E, Crothersville. The store will have its new fall arrivals and light refreshments will be served.

Fall Cruise In – The Seymour Area Cruisers will meet for the annual Fall Cruise In from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. October 12, at Rockford Ridge, 2200 North Ewing Street, Seymour.

Jackson 100 – The 45th annual Jackson 100 will start around 6 p.m. October 12, at the Brownstown Speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The race will feature Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with $50,000 to win, plus Super Stocks and Pure Stocks. Click here for tickets and more information.

Live music at Poplar Street – The Forrest Turner Band will play at 7 p.m. October 12, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour. Steve Plasse also will perform. The event will include a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Jackson County and includes a silent auction.

Saturday, October 19

Fort Vallonia Days – The annual Fort Vallonia Days will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 19, in Vallonia. The festival will include food, crafts, flea market, entertainment, 5K, parade, contests, and more.

‘Holloween’ Spooktacular – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host its annual ‘Holloween’ Spooktacular with activities from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. October 19, at the property in Vallonia. activities include 10 a.m. Grab & Ghost Crafts, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Trick or Treat (traffic stops at 3:30 p.m.), 6 p.m. campsite decorations winners, 7 p.m. Happy Haunts kid-friendly haunted house tour, and 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Haunted House. Seymour Smash – The Seymour Owls Tennis Parents Club will host its annual Seymour Smash Tennis Tournament on October 25, 26, & 27, at Seymour High School and Trinity Lutheran High School. Start times will be 5 p.m. 10/25, 9 a.m. 10/26, & 11 a.m. 10/27. The event is a fundraiser for the tennis program at Seymour High School.

Tickets are $15, and kids 12 and under are $10. All proceeds go to cancer research.
