Driftwood State Fish Hatchery
About
Constructed under the Works Projects Administration (WPA) in the late 1930’s, this warm water facility consists of 9 earthen rearing ponds and 1 brood-fish holding pond. The rearing ponds range from 0.6 to 2.0 acres in size and provide a total of 11.6 acres for raising fish. The facility raises 250,000 two-inch bass, 20,000 four-inch largemouth bass and 8,500 channel catfish annually, which are then used to stock Indiana’s many public waters.
