Thursday, August 3
Hoosier Scale Fly-In – The Southern Indiana Flying Eagles in Seymour will host the Hoosier Scale Fly-In from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 3 at the Freeman Field Airport. The event will continue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 4 and 10 a.m. to noon August 5. Use the State Road 11 Entrance into Freeman Field Industrial Park and follow the signs to the airfield. Concessions will be available.
Live music at Reed’s Place – Fred Elam will play at 6 p.m. August 3, at Reed’s Place Steak & Chop Shop, 224 South Chestnut Street, Seymour.
Free Swim Night – The Shields Park Pool and Healthy Jackson County will offer a Free Swim Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. August 3, at the Shields Park Pool, 703 North Park Street, Seymour. There will also be free resources and snacks.
Jackson County Watermelon Festival Pageant – The Jackson County Watermelon Festival Pageant will be at 7 p.m. August 3, at Heritage Park, 121 East Walnut Street, Brownstown.
Friday, August 4
Hoosier Scale Fly-In – The Southern Indiana Flying Eagles in Seymour will host the Hoosier Scale Fly-In from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 4 at the Freeman Field Airport. End of Summer Escape – The Jackson County Public Library and Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will host the End of Summer Escape and Bubblefest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 4, at Shields Park in Seymour. The event is open to all families with children.
Jackson County Watermelon Festival – The Jackson County Watermelon Festival will be from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. August 4, on the Courthouse Square in Brownstown. The festival will feature food, shopping, kids’ games, entertainment, and the Rock the Rind concert series. The featured act for August 4 is country music star Sara Evans. Live music at Harmony Park – The 78’s will play at 6:30 p.m. August 4, at Harmony Park outside the Brooklyn Pizza Co., 753 West Second Street, Seymour.
Live music at Poplar Street – Austin James will play at 7 p.m. August 4, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.
Live music at Rails – Michael Staublin will play at 7 p.m. August 4, at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.
Friday Night Live – Steve Deweese will play an acoustic performance for Friday Night Live at 7 p.m., August 4, at SICA, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour.
Live music at Meek’s – Matt Trimnell will play at 8 p.m. August 4, at Meek’s Bar & Grill, 2105 South County Road 750E, Seymour.
Saturday, August 5
Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon August 5, at the farmers market parking lot off Walnut Street.
Jackson County Watermelon Festival – The Jackson County Watermelon Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. August 5, on the Courthouse Square in Brownstown. The festival will feature food, shopping, a 5K, kids’ games, entertainment, and the Rock the Rind concert series. The featured act for August 5 is country music band The Steel Woods. Disc Dash – The Seymour Noon Lions Club will host the Disc Dash at 10 a.m. August 5, at the Freeman Field Recreational Complex, 2476 North State Road 11, Seymour. It’s $25 if register
Poker Run – Indigo Rescue Ranch will host a poker run at 11 a.m. August 5, at Black Swan Lake, North County Road 875 West, Norman. Gates for the event open at 10 a.m., registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the ride will leave at 11 a.m. The event will include a silent auction, prizes, raffles, shirts, live music, camping, and food. Food Truck Saturday – Food Truck Saturdays will be from 4 to 8 p.m. the first Saturday of each month from May through October at Shields Park in Seymour. There will be music during the event with 10% or $50 of sales going to the Seymour Parks and Recreation Department for programming.

Dinner on the Medora Covered Bridge – The 12th annual Dinner on the Medora Covered Bridge will be at 6:30 p.m. August 5, at the bridge, State Road 235, Medora. Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow Gala – The Seymour Museum Center will host the Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow Gala from 7 to 9 p.m. August 5, at the center, 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. The gala serves as the official grand opening of the historic federal building in Seymour. The exhibits and model train room will be open for people to see.
