Your Guide to the Weekend – 12/16-12/19
It may be hard to believe, but Christmas is next week! Here’s all the fun you can have in Jackson County leading up to the holiday.
Since the calendar will wind down quite a bit with the holidays and winter season, this will be the last Guide to the Weekend until Spring when events are scheduled more consistently. Still, check the visitor center calendar as we will continue to update it or follow the Jackson County Visitor Center on social media for the latest.

Thursday, December 16
Hometown Christmas – The Brownstown Ewing Main Street Hometown Christmas will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Jackson County History Center also will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. for its Festival of Trees.
Friday, December 17
Building a Polar Bear – The Jackson County Public Library is hosting a Build a Polar Bear workshop at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook live from the Seymour location. It’s limited to ages 2-12. Register online. Pick of of kits will begin December 10.
Wonderland of Lights – Tiemeyer’s Farm Market will offer its Wonderland of Lights hayride at 6 p.m. Go through the Christmas light display and be dropped off for a visit with Santa in his workshop! Reservations can be made by calling 812-358-5618. Cost is $10 per person. Click here to watch a video of the ride and lights.
Saturday, December 18
Jingle All the 5K – Seymour Main Street will host the Jingle All the 5K race at 8 a.m. downtown Seymour. Register on Indiana Timing.
Train & Toy Show – The Seymour Museum Center will host a Train and Toy Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday December 11 and 18. Come view the model trains running the entire length of the event. There will be a drawing every hour and a train set will be given away at 3 p.m. (must be present to win). There also will be vintage toys on display. Watch a video of the show by clicking here.
Santa – Santa will be at Schwätzer’s German Restaurant from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. There will be free candy and photos for the kids.
Festival of Trees – The Jackson County History Center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. for the Festival of Trees. Stop by and see everyone’s tree decorated for the “Favorite Animal” theme. Groups may also make reservations by calling 812-358-2118.

Deliver meals – A local group will again deliver meals to those in need on Christmas Day. Volunteers should meet at the Brooklyn Pizza Company around 9 a.m. and expect to make deliveries starting at 9:30 a.m. Monetary donations may be made at the Brooklyn Pizza Company or Bubba’s Place. Bottled water may also be donated at both locations.
Friday, December 31 – New Year’s Eve!
New Year’s Eve Party – The Moose Lodge 418 in Seymour will have a New Year’s Eve Party with Soul Express performing.
