It’s the final weekend in August, so autumn is right around the corner – even if it doesn’t feel like it. This week’s fun includes quite the variety from dog shows to 5Ks and live music to End of Summer celebrations and more.

Friday, August 27
Aloha – The Jackson County Chamber is hosting a Member Appreciation Luau from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chateau de Pique Winery and Brewery. You or your organization has to be a member to attend.
Live Music at Luke’s – Lonesome Crow will play at 7 to 10 p.m. at Luke’s Country Inn.
Live Music at Rails – Damon Mitchell will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.
Live Music at Harmony Park – Rich Hampton will perform at 7 p.m. at Harmony Park.
Live Music at On the Rox – Lom Win and Mojo Machine will perform at 8 p.m. at On the Rox.
Saturday, August 28
Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot.
Run for the Parks – The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the Parkapalooza 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. Saturday at Shields Park. Online registration has closed, but you can register at the event at 7 a.m. Cost is $30 and goes to provide scholarships for park activities.
Fall Open House – Anytime Florals & Gifts in Brownstown is hosting a Fall Open House from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Dog Show – The Jackson County Humane Society’s Dog Days Dog Show is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Keach Parking Lot. (Corner of Fourth and Walnut behind the Post Office). It’s $3 to enter and all dogs will be entered for door prizes along with free goody bags. Trophies for multiple categories, too!
Celebrate Summer – The End of Summer Bash will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Starve Hollow State Recreation Area. There will be decorating a pencil holder, sandcastle building contest, water games, sunset kayak tour and all kinds of fun.
Golf time – The Seymour Evening Lions Club Golf Scramble is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Shadowood Golf Course. Sign up begins at 11 a.m. with lunch being served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
ATV/UTV Ride – The Lincoln R. Hoevener Memorial ATV/UTV Ride is scheduled for noon and will leave from the Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department in Tampico. It’s $10 for an ATV, and $20 for a UTV/Jeep, which will benefit the Williams Syndrome Association.
Benefit Ride – The Peach & Willie Riding for Marney motorcycle ride starts at noon at On the Rox. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and is $20 per ride and $25 for a couple.
Race night – The Hero’s And Hornets Special starts at 6 p.m. at Brownstown Speedway.
Bingo – It’s Bingo Night at the Carr Township Volunteer Fire Department in Medora. It all starts at 6 p.m.
Live Music at Poplar Street – Matt Trimnell will perform at 7 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant.
Live Music at Jackson Live – SHILOH will perform for 7 p.m. at Jackson Live. Tickets are available by calling 812-521-1282.
Live Music at Rails – Tracy Thompson will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.
Live Music at Harmony Park – Don Pedigo & the Coyotes will perform at 7 p.m. at Harmony Park.
Live Music at Luke’s – Steve Deweese will play at 7 to 10 p.m. at Luke’s Country Inn.
Sunday, August 29
Outdoor worship – Trinity United Methodist Church of Seymour will host an outdoor worship service at 10 a.m. at the Jackson-Washington State Forest off State Road 250 in Brownstown.
