But properties in Jackson County don’t just offer camping; activities for the whole family can be found and memories are sure to be made.
Camping with electric and non electric sites is offered through Starve Hollow State Recreation Area in Vallonia and the Jackson-Washington State Forest in Brownstown.
Each of those stays also include the opportunity for excellent fishing and relaxing views. And with nearly 45 miles of trails between the two properties, there is an opportunity for hikers of any experience level to get out and experience the outdoors.
Starve Hollow also offers swimming, boat and kayak rentals, play areas, picnic areas, mountain bike trails and more to complete your experience. Jackson-Washington State Forest also includes several picnic areas where you and your family can spend some quality time together.

If you’re not up for an overnight stay, both properties are a great place to spend a day enjoying the outdoors. Jackson County also is home to the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, which includes trails and opportunities for fishing, bird watching, nature photography and more.
