JCCT Auditions set for show
Jackson County Community Theatre announces auditions for It’s a Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play, adapted by Joe Landry, and directed by John Hardaway, October 4 & 5, 2020. This is a “show within a show,” and is an excellent and fun opportunity for actors, including those who love to do different voices.
Ring in the holiday season with Frank Capra’s classic film brought to life as a 1946 radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials and live foley (sound effects) artists. George Bailey, a man with all the right stuff except luck, takes stock of his life one fateful Christmas Eve. His feckless guardian angel Clarence shows him that success can be measured in many ways, leading to an ending warmer than a hot mug of cocoa on a cold winter’s night!
All auditions are open to the community and parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity. All actors should be at least 18 years old at the time of auditions. Auditions, rehearsals and performances are held at The Royal Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 West Walnut Street, Brownstown, IN 47220.
JCCT directors and staff will be taking all possible precautions to protect the health of participants at auditions, rehearsals, and during the show. For that reason, auditions will be by appointment on the above dates, 6:30-9:30 pm. An audition time may be scheduled by visiting www.jcct.org, clicking on “auditions” and picking an available time slot on either Sunday or Monday evening. Auditions may also be scheduled by calling 812-358-JCCT (5228) to schedule. Face masks will be required at auditions but can be removed while reading.
Parts are available for two women and three men who will portray all the characters, plus two actors who can be men or women who act as “foleys.” Those are prop and sound-effects people in the radio studio. The actors will be in minimal contact on stage. Since they are portraying radio artists in front of microphones, no physical contact (fights, hugs, etc.) will be necessary.
